Frequently Asked Questions

Why use the SportsSignUpPlay App?

All Ages

In late 2016, the Kiwanis Club of Hudson moved their website to a new platform.  SportsSignupPlay (formerly SIPlay) is one of the top youth sports web service providers in the market and provides for a new look and more advanced features than the previous platform.  The initial move in fall of 2016 was completed for travel basketball.  We completed the move to SSP for managing baseball activities prior to the 2018 season.

Note that you can access your team through the SSP mobile app (link at the top of this page) and you can also follow your favorite team live with another app called iScore (will only work if your team manages the input during the games).

What happened to "Little League" from previous years?

Minor/Major Leagues (9-12)
Challenger League

In 2014, the Hudson Kiwanis Baseball Board decided to end our affiliation with Little League International of Williamsport, PA.  This program required that we end our regular season prior to July 4th and we felt that this limited our ability to make a "summer of baseball" available to our community.  We will retain the league names of "Minor" for 9/10 year olds and "Major" for the 11/12 year olds.  We will also continue with the Challenger League program as in prior years.

In 2021, we have renamed the "Minor" league and now refer to the 9/10 group as the Triple-A League.

Clemente League (15-18)

Who umpires the games?

We utilize youth umpires for our 7/8, 9/10, and 11/12 leagues.

Adult umpires are used for the 13-14 League & High School League.  There are no umpires furnished for the younger leagues.

How does my child become an umpire in your program?

They must first submit an online umpire registration completed by a parent or legal guardian.  Our Umpire Coordinator conducts indoor training sessions to set expectations and review the rules and then outdoor field training as we get closer to the season.  All communication is handled via email.

Youth umpires are required to be ages 11 through 18 and/or graduating high school seniors.

Are the umpires paid?

The youth umpires are compensated after the season ends based upon the number of games and umpiring position they work for specific games.  This will be explained in detail during the indoor training sessions.
